C.R.S. - Hard chrome plating Grinding Superfinishing

Preparation and Finish

CRS has a machine shop equipped for the operations of preparation, grinding and superfinishing of cylinders and mechanical pieces that are processed according to the client's specific requests.

The mechanical processes are performed by:

  • 12 grinding machines that perform both the straight and rounded grinding.
Look at the maximum diameters and lengths for carrying out the grinding.
  • 4 sanding machines for processing rolls of up to the following sizes:
    Roll Diameter Roll Length
    500 mm 5.000 mm
    400 mm 3.000 mm
    300 mm 2.500 mm
    800 mm 6.000 mm
  • Polishing machines for processing rolls of up to the following sizes:
    Roll Diameter Roll Length
    1.200 mm 500 mm
    900 mm 10.000 mm
  • 4 shot-blasting machines for processing rolls of up to the following sizes:
    Roll Diameter Roll Length
    1.000 mm 8.000 mm

The preparation of the surfaces is to facilitate the depositing of the chrome, eliminating any substances on the piece's surface, via degreasing and washing processes.

Sanding is used to deep clean the surfaces to be treated or to give the surfaces a certain roughness.

Electrolytic dechroming is available, for removing chrome from pieces to be reconditioned.

Superfinishing aims to reduce the roughness of the chrome plated surface, giving the calender cylinders a specular quality.

C.R.S. has the following lifting equipment:
